We are seeking a Head Chef to join our team!
THE POSITION:
Nepenthe Brewing Co. is looking for a full-time Taproom Manager to oversee taproom operations and assist with day-to-day management duties. Ideal candidates will have strong leadership qualities, good communication skills, and enjoy working in an exciting and fast-paced environment.
Nepenthe Brewing Co. is an award-winning brewery, restaurant, and homebrew shop located in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore. We focus on experimental beers and creative pub food in a casual and communal atmosphere.
TAPROOM OPERATIONS

Overseeing all aspects of taproom management, including front- and back-of-house, service, and employee supervision;

Providing a high level of customer service, including handling customer complaints and issues as they arise;

Scheduling to ensure the taproom is properly staffed at all times;

Managing daily personnel for each shift, and maintaining set labor costs;

Performing opening and closing procedures when needed, including cash handling and securing the premise;

Expediting food from the kitchen when necessary;

Enforcing quality and safety controls;

Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the taproom.
Leadership

Creating a welcoming and professional environment for staff;

Staying up-to-date on company offerings, services, policies, and events, and ensuring that the staff is as well;

Maintaining a positive and professional demeanor at all times;

Encouraging a fun and safe atmosphere for customers and employees.
Employee Development
-
Hiring and training staff to promote excellent service, knowledge, and efficiency;

Ensuring that taproom staff maintains a high standard of food and beer knowledge.
Event Management
-
Assist in the planning and day-of coordination for all special events hosted at the taproom;

Ensure there is adequate staffing for large events.
REQUIREMENTS

At least one year of management-level experience in the bar/restaurant industry;

Thorough knowledge and understanding of restaurant operations in both front- and back-of-house;

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, ability to assess customer and employee needs, and evaluate and ensure customer satisfaction;

Strong computer skills and knowledge of restaurant POS operations. Should be able to work with Word, Excel, Google Sheets, etc.;

Regular availability to work during peak hours, including nights and weekends;

Ability to walk, stand, and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in a fast-paced work environment;

Must have a professional demeanor and a positive attitude;

Must be able to provide references.
